ABB technology guarantees the safe and stable operation of Indonesia's Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail power distribution facilities

The Yawan high-speed railway, connecting Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, and Bandung, the fourth largest city, is a landmark project of the "Belt and Road" construction and practical cooperation between China and India, with a total length of 142 kilometers and a maximum design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, and is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in June 2023. After completion, the travel time between the two places will be shortened from more than 3 hours to 40 minutes.Indonesia has a typical tropical rainforest climate, with high temperature and rain all year round, and the environment is humid and hot. In order to adapt to these complex hot and humid climatic characteristics and ensure the safe operation of power distribution equipment, the Yawan high-speed railway "four electricity" integrated intelligent power distribution cabinet is selected in strict accordance with the relevant standards and technical requirements of countries along the "Belt and Road". "Four Electricity" is the general term for communication, signal, electricity and electric traction power supply in the construction of high-speed rail, and is the "central brain" and power source of the entire high-speed rail.

Based on the cooperation between ABB and its partner Wuhan Xigao Electric Co., Ltd., after rigorous technical bidding rounds, the project finally selected ABB's intelligent power distribution solution to ensure the continuity of electricity consumption along the high-speed rail line and the safe and stable operation of the electrical system. The solution covers low-voltage components such as Emax 2 air circuit breaker, Tmax molded case circuit breaker, dual power transfer switch, S200 miniature circuit breaker, AX contactor and other low-voltage components, providing overload, short circuit, ground fault and intercontact electrical protection for the project's low-voltage distribution network. As the project belongs to the "Belt and Road" project, ABB solves the electrical problems that the rail transit system may encounter by providing customers with the selection of additional on-site power distribution selectivity and other issues by cooperating with ABB DOCWIN design software to support the construction of higher performance electrical systems.Yang Rong, Vice President of ABB Electric China, said that ABB has verifiable advantages in global operation network, international and domestic project engineering experience, digital capabilities of electrical equipment, etc., and can connect with enterprises in the fields of power, transportation, industry and infrastructure to help partners enhance market competitiveness when undertaking overseas projects, and improve the stability and energy efficiency of users' power distribution. With the in-depth implementation of China's "Belt and Road" initiative, it is hoped that ABB can work with more partners to achieve resource sharing and jointly develop more broad markets along the route. As one of the first enterprises to actively explore the business opportunities of the "Belt and Road", ABB works with Chinese enterprises to explore domestic and foreign markets. In recent years, ABB has cooperated with 400 Chinese enterprises in more than 70 countries and regions along the "Belt and Road", providing advanced technologies and solutions for related projects, such as Sinoma International's Danduomiao cement production line in Myanmar, Sinopec's petroleum polypropylene project in Thailand, and Tangshan Bus' No. 2 light rail project in Izmir, Turkey. In the rail transit industry, ABB actively participates in the construction of rail transit in China, providing solid and reliable power guarantee for AC/DC substations, passenger station buildings, control and signaling devices, tunnels, rolling stock, and promoting inter-provincial and inter-city interconnection, including Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, Qinghai-Tibet railway, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Changsha and many other rail transit projects.
